RG Messages - 2000

1 June 2000 - My name is Ron Richardson. My family were members of the RG from it's beginning in 1968. They include my sister Karen (a charter member), my brother David, myself, and my younger brother Bryan. Most of the "older" RG-ers should remember MOM Richardson. Our mother was not only with the RG Parents Association, but was the General Manager of the RG during our last couple of years in Wiesbaden (until "73). I would ask any of the members who remember MOM to contact her via my e-mail address: 3richardson@home.com. I will print out all messages to her and deliver them personally. She lives just five minutes from me here in Savanah. I know that she would enjoy hearing from all the "kids" and it would mean a great deal to her to have them contact her after all these years. When you contact her, don't forget to say HI to me too!

Update! "Mom" has her own e-mail address now. See the RG e-mail page.

16 June 2000 - What fun to find the RG page! It brought back many  wonderful memories for me.  I was a member my senior year ('76) and had a blast!  I still find myself from  time to time humming..."It only takes a spark..."
Thanks!

31 July 2000 - My name is Tina Powers (Hafner) and my brother 's name is Shawn Powers.  We were both RGers back in 69 to 71 or 72.  I'll have to double check.  However, I have some junk I saved all of these years and once I'm back to work in September, I'll make copies and send it you or I'll get someone to scan it and email it to you.  Just thought I'd check in after I heard from Ron Richardson and read some of his comments from the HH Arnold website. I'll be in touch later. T

Thanks Tina! Looking forward to anything you can send (share with) us. I will get it on the site. -Tom

18 August 2000 - It was great to find this website. I, too, was an RGer from 71-73. Have returned this summer from the school reunion in Wiesbaden, we had a grand time. I attended Mass one Sunday morning and as I sat in the chapel it brought back so many wonderful memories. The church is still as big as ever, unlike the rest of Wiesbaden, it seemed so small. The school also seemed so small. There is now a huge fence that surrounds the school(s) what a shame. As I sat in the chapel I could almost hear all the energy the walls held from so many years ago. We had so much fun and it was a time of innocence and viewing the world thru childs eyes. I was saddened at my adult perspective and critical eyes of the trip. They say you can never go back and they are right, but the memories will always be there and what great ones they were. I, too, have some info so will "Pass it on" More Later, Terry Cudmore Beaty 73 uber alles!!!!!!!

22 August 2000 - I was  in R.G. from 71-73 and have some memorabilia that I need to dig up and make copies. I even have a LP that was made the year before I joined. I am also interested to see if anyone knows the whereabouts of Ken Winter. He was a director and the one that got me involved with R.G. Also wanted to "Thank You" for all the great work, I enjoy checking in and seeing notes from people, some who I knew and others who I knew by name only. Would love to hear from anyone who may remember me. I can be reached at: slreiter@csupomona.edu. Sharon L. Swart-Reiter

Thanks Sharon - Send us your memorabilia (we'll take it)...and thanks for the info on the RG album. I've been trying to figure out what year it was made (70-71). How about it everyone? Anybody got any idea where we might be able to find an e-mail address or phone number for Ken Winter? -Tom

25 August 2000 - I was in RG from 1973-1974. I originally joined RG because my girlfriend (Hi, Terry!) was a member. I later played lead guitar, and was President of RG in Spring-Summer 1974. It was a wonderful experience - although it is to my deep regret that I did not have a true relationship with Jesus Christ during that time. How many opportunities lost!!? It took my wife, Wendy Shelton (White), also a Wiesbaden High School graduate, to help bring me to Christ, and we now have a son, Walker, age 12. I thank God for RG, what it taught me, and what we hopefully were able to share with others. Most of all, I pray that my son has a similar opportunity to belong to a similar group of young Christians who truly love the Lord, and who want to serve Him. It was sad to hear (years ago) that RG was no more. But I bet you that we former members, who are now parents and in some cases even have children who have left the nest, occasionally remember that "it only takes a spark to get a fire going". -P.K. White

27 August 2000 - Jim Cartwright 73 sent the following:  Sun Aug 27 cart@goldstate.net . I am trying to locate Erin Evans, class of '75.  She was in the RG. She  moved to Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio the summer of  '73. Any information  would be appreciated. Thanks.

27 August 2000 - A heartfelt "Hello" to all my fellow RG'ers! Even after all these years it doesn't take much to take me back to Hainerberg Chapel, to the endless rehearsals to prepare for a concert or packing for another tour. Remember London? Little did I know at the time what an impact the Revelation Generation would have on my life or the lives of my brothers and Mom. We lived, ate and breathed RG! Whenever someone starts talking about their own accomplishments I can still beat them with "Yeah, but have you ever been on the Ed Sullivan Show?" What wonderful memories! What wonderful friends! -Karen Richardson-Scogin

27 September 2000 - One of my most vivid memories of my time with RG is of the way Tom Tucker would get us to smile during a performance (especially those late evening ones when we were tired). Remember the faces he would make at us right in the middle of a song? Eyes crossed, tongue sticking out, silly grin... It's a wonder we didn't crack up or forget the words. - Tom Nestor

27 September 2000 - What a thrill to see this site, My name is Bryan Richardson, I along with my entire family was involved with RG in the early 70's. I couldn't let my sister Karen (Richardson) Scogin, hey sis and brother Ron show me up. I look back to the days of Weisbaden with a smile on my face and a longing for the good ol' days. Whenever I try to explain my experiences to my wife and 3 kids, they all look at my like I've lost something, and you know what? They are correct, Just looking at all the comments makes me a little homesick for the old days. We all remember the hard work and feeling of total exhaustion after yet another long tour somewhere in Germany, yet these are the memories we all cherish.

26 October 2000 - MOM RICHARDSON has a e-mail address, although she doesn't know it yet. Anyone wishing to contact Mom (JUNE RICHARDSON) can reach her at 3richardson@home.com . I am trying to see if I can get some of the RG'rs out there to e-mail her and then suprise her with it the next time she and Dad drop by. So how about it guys...!? - Ron Richardson

What a good idea Ron! Let's all take a minute and send MOM an e-mail.

8 December 2000 - I was just sitting here listening to the radio when Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer came on. Suddenly I got a flash back to a concert on April 1st 1973 when we all decided to pull an April Fools joke on our beloved director Mrs. Hunter, we were supposed to sing I believe Pass It On, when we all broke out in our very special version of "Rudolph" with hand movement and everything. I can still picture the look of total disbelief to the point that she had to sit down! Funny how little things like that can trigger long forgotten memories. Anyone wishing to contact me can E-mail me at: brichar2@twcny.rr.com or bryan.richardson@compaq.com - Bryan Richardson

9 December 2000 - What wonderful and unforgettable experiences I gained by being a member of R.G. for two years! All those involved throughout the years were truly blessed to be part of such an awesome ministry. The trip that had the most impact on me was our week long tour to Berlin via train. I can remember an incredible sense of fear as we passed through East Germany (Checkpoint Charlie) in the middle of the night with what seemed like hundreds of East German Police pointing their loaded guns at us! Not a feeling I want to ever experience again! Also, the overwhelming feeling of despair that overcame me when we visited the Berlin Wall was indescribable. I've only felt that same feeling one other time in my life, when I visited the bombing site in Oklahoma City several years back. I was overtaken with silence and tears. - Carol Yeager-Flynn
